Abstract

Lankacidin biosynthesis is processed by an unusual NRPS/PKS. A previously unrecognised dehydratase domain was shown in knockout experiments to act together with thediscrete dehydratase LkcB in lankacidin biosynthesis and may control the switch from the iterative to the modular modeof operation that is implied in this system.
