Today, we published our research progress in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America on the three-dimensional genome analysis of Streptomyces and the overproduction of natural products. This study uses Streptomyces, which is rich in natural products, as the research material, and provides a new dimension and perspective for overproduction of natural products by revealing and utilizing the correlation between the high-level structure of chromatin and the expression of natural product biosynthetic gene clusters.

Today, we published a latest research advance in Nature Communications on a marvelous polyketide synthase. We analyzed the evolution process of the modular polyketide synthase assembly line from Azalomycin F, a natural product with excellent antifungal and anti-tumor activity and revealed the correlation between the unique interaction between modules and the non-classical mechanism of the assembly line. Based on it, we also realized the rational design and directional transformation of the assembly line. This is the latest progress on this unique polyketide synthase since the relevant work was published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition in 2017 and 2020. This provides new insights and inspiration for in-depth understanding of the modular polyketide synthase assembly line and evolution process.
